General Methodology

Assortment Styler™ is an observational, content analysis system that catalogs retailers’ product assortments as presented on their web sites. We have developed a detailed product categorization system which enables our data entry team to swiftly and accurately enter detailed product descriptions. Our data entry team adheres to the highest quality standards and is continually monitored by our Quality Control Officer.

Approximately 88 product categories in soft and hard home goods are tracked by Assortment Styler™. For the seven mass merchants in our primary retail panel, that equates to approximately 80,000 products entered each quarter. With a database this large, delivered in Excel pivot table format, our clients are able to slice, dice, and drill down to answer any question they can imagine. Our retail clients are also able to examine the entire data set on a store-by-store basis, so that they can compare their store to one specific competitor or to the entire competitive set. (Our vendor clients can do the same thing within the limits of the product categories they subscribe to.)
